Georgia

Georgia uses Form T-22B Certification of Inspection for several title situations involving non-title documents, non-title jurisdictions, bonded titles, and some vehicles not previously registered in Georgia. Georgia also has a separate rebuilt-vehicle inspection track using Form T-22R for salvage and rebuilt title work.

When a VIN verification is required
Georgia requires inspection documentation when a title application is supported by non-title jurisdiction documents, certain out-of-state or country transfers, bonded-title applications, and some vehicles not previously registered in Georgia; salvage and rebuilt cases use the rebuilt inspection process.
Who can do it
T-22B may be completed by a Georgia law enforcement officer and, on the foreign-country title page, by a county tag agent or designated employee after visually inspecting the serial plate; rebuilt inspections are performed by Department state inspectors or approved private inspectors.

Fee
No separate T-22B fee was found on the official pages reviewed; T-22R publishes a $100 inspection fee each time, with $18 title fee if privately inspected or $118 total when requesting a state inspector.

What to do next

  1. If your paperwork comes from a non-title state, country, or other non-title proof of ownership, ask your county tag office whether T-22B must accompany your title application.
  2. For bonded titles, prepare T-22B early so it matches the ownership name and VIN on your title packet.
  3. If the vehicle is salvage or already branded rebuilt, use T-22R and decide whether you are using a state inspector or an approved private inspector before mailing anything.
